St. Paul University, abbreviated as SPUD or SPU Dumaguete, is a private Catholic university located in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines. The university traces its origins to the coming of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres (SPC) in the Philippines. The congregation to which the sisters belonged was founded in Chartres, France in 1968. On October 29, 1904, the said sisters who just came from a trip in Vietnam, established the first St. Paul's school in the Philippines in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. The seven sisters were Mother Marthe de St. Paul, Superior, Sr. Marie Louise du Sacre Coeur, Sr. Ange Marie, Sr. Anne de la Croix, Sr. Charles de Genes, Sr. Catherine, and Sr. Josephine. The institution they established initially offered elementary education. High school started to be offered in 1920, until the institution offered college degrees years later. For many years, the institution operated as ''St. Paul College of Dumaguete''. In 2004, the year of its centennial celebration, the college was granted university status becoming one of the four universities in Dumaguete. == Academic Programs ==
